Project Background
Joined the team on the ongoing project BRD Banking App at early stages. The team was a collaboration formed from colleagues from BRD and my colleagues from ITSS. We had over 30 developers working on the project both backend and frontend alongside an amazing team of Business Analysts and 3 UI/UX designer, myself and 2 from BRD.
Coordination tasks:
- Refine and conduct Design Sprints with the Product owners at BRD
- Participate and ensure a good implementation and quality assurance of the project
UX Tasks:
- Deliver High Quality interactive wireframes and assets for the development team
- Design app concepts based on analysis and dev capabilities
- Define a design system for the entire project both mobile app and website version

Project Challenges
Based on the existing core banking system and an out of the box widget system delivered by our colleagues from BackBase, our greatest challenge was to bring the app to a brand new and enriched user experience.
Continuous collaboration with both teams and incredible innovation based on solid analysis we managed to create a solid and improved new app.
Way of working
Working in an agile environment our day to day activities where as follows:
- Define and refine user flows alongside Business Analysts as well the Product Owners
- Test user flows and iterate accordingly based on our findings
- Conduct design sprints with multiple iterations to ensure the best possible solution will be implemented
- Generate HD designs
- Create interactive wireframes of the winning version of designs
- Generate assets for the development team

Project evolution
It started out as a desire to give the possibility of the bank's own customers to initiate account transfers and bill payments. Once the MVP was developed successfully and officially launched we started to tackle the rest of the business backlog.
Payments:
Constantly researching for ways to shorten and make the payments initiation process an easier one for our customers, through competitors analysis we managed through hard work to iterate and successfully test and implement the right design for said requirement.

Project conclusion
Project acquired many features evolving into a highly clean and easy to navigate banking app through the course of 1.5 years. It was an amazing experience being one of the first projects in Open Banking I had the pleasure working on.
